Geometry 6
Fourth graders will discover the building blocks of geometry in this unit: points, lines, line segments and rays. Students will explore the properties of different shapes, including symmetry, parallel and perpendicular lines, and 900 angles. Students will apply their understanding as they learn to sort shapes based on these properties.

Measurement and Data 4
Representing data on graphs makes math visual and involves some creativity and design. Plotting data using fractional units takes their learning one step further. Also in this unit, students learn to measure using both traditional units (like inches, feet and yards) and metric units, and how to convert measurements within each system. The concept of measurement gets two dimensional when students explore measuring and working with angles.

Search Line Educational Resources

Prepare your student for geometry classes and beyond with these resources that allow them to practice working with lines, line segments, and rays. Though the differences may be small, the details are important when it comes to practicing math in an accurate and productive way. Relieve the stress of math class with these and other practice worksheets, such as our fifth grade equivalent fractions resources.
Name that line! Learning the properties of line segments is a fundamental skill for geometry. These resources help identify a variety of properties associated with lines, such as the difference between lines, line segments, and rays and the characteristics of parallel and perpendicular lines. A line continues in opposite directions without ending. A line segment has two endpoints. A ray has one endpoint and extends without ending in one direction. Drawing lines, labeling lines, and hands-on activities help students understand the geometry of lines. Learning about different aspects of line segments prepares students in third to fifth grade for more advanced geometry resources. You can start with our lesson plans to teach about line segments and then use a variety of resources available here to reinforce your students’ understanding of line segments and geometry.
