Fractions as Parts of a Set
- 2nd Grade
- 3rd Grade
Fractions can be taught by using shapes and by using sets, or groups. Help students make connections between fractions and talking about parts of groups. For example, they may use the word “half” but not realize that it refers to a fraction. Teaching about fractions as parts of a set is also a great way to introduce the concepts of numerators and denominators.
